Presented to Louis XIV as a work by Michelangelo, the Victory of David Over Goliath by Daniele da Volterra continues to cause confusion. Painted on both sides of a slate and representing the same scene from different angles, it is both a double portrait and a unique attempt to create space, gesture and action by linking two images. This film explores the universe of this special work, conceived as an artistic, technical and theoretical challenge. A universe in which da Volterra continually engaged in a dialogue with his mentor and friend: Michangelo.
