Im Schatten der Blutrache
Of all her brothers and sisters, Gülnaz is the only one to have succeeded. Thanks to the school she started, she can feed her Kurdish-born family. But after 22 years of marriage, she is weary of being mistreated and beaten by her husband and is asking for a divorce. A decision considered a serious stain on their honor by her mate and relatives. Her husband swears to get revenge if she doesn’t resume her marital place. Backed by her brother Adil, who bears the brunt of the in-laws’ anger, Gülnaz declares an open war between the two clans. A spiral of violence leads to tragedy: Zalim, one of her brothers, kills the nephew of his ex-brother-in-law in the street of a German city. He is quickly arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. Today, for fear of reprisals, Gülnaz doesn’t leave her house any more. Her sole hope: her six children, and especially her oldest daughter Evelyn, who, despite her father’s opposition, has become a famous singer. Can she preserve her freedom if she marries?
