Haiti is the poorest and most desperate country on the whole American continent. It is the forgotten half of a famous island, the other half of which is Santo Domingo, a Carribean paradise for most Italians. After decades of tiranny and anarchy, Haiti is painstakingly seeking a new way forward and trying with the help of the United Nations, to fight criminal gangs, drug trafficking and prostitution. TG2 Dossier met volonteers, priests and doctors, mostly Italian, who are striving to defend the dignity of the Haitian people.
