Freddy Buache, passeur du 7e art
The founding of the Cinémathèque Suisse was a genuine saga, like that of the
Cinémathèque Française and other film archives… Two major figures of this world of images and sounds, Henri Langlois and Freddy Buache… One of them, "the dragon who guards our treasures" in the words of Jean Cocteau, the other, "the minotaur who guides us through the world of the cinema,” as I put it, or simply “an image smuggler,” in Buache’s words. This is confirmed amicably by Michel Contat, Alain Tanner, Pietro Sarto, Jean-Luc Godard et Jacques Chessex, satellites in the Buache galaxy. Michel Van Zele
