Franz Fuchs - Ein PatriotFranz Fuchs - A Patriot
From 1993 to 1997, Franz Fuchs, who described himself as an "Austrian terrorist," rocked Austria by committing a series of letter bomb attacks, which killed four people and left 15 seriously injured. Ten years after his arrest, on October 1, 1997, the film looks back on the affair, raising questions which no one wanted to answer after Fuch's suicide in prison, in 2000. Divided into three parts and interweaving fictional reconstitutions and documentary techniques, the film begins with Fuch's preventive detention and the preparations for the trial, then moves on to the trial itself, before examining the consequences of the affair. The documentary sections deal with interviews with the victims, investigators, lawyers and journalists, as well as archive footage covering the period 1993-2000. The fictional scenes show us Franz Fuchs himself, the events following his arrest and detention, and his suicide.
