Elie Chouraqui
In the 70s, he was assistant director to Claude Lelouch, then Claude Pinoteau and Yves Robert. Moving behind the camera when he was only 25, he directed Mon premier amour (1978), which related the last months of a terminally ill woman and her relationship with her son – it earned Anouk Aimée a best actress César Award nomination. He then proved himself in comedy with Qu'est-ce qui fait courir David ? and road movies with Miss Missouri. More recently, he worked in a political mode with the hit Harrison Flowers, about the war in Kosovo, then Ô Jérusalem ! an epic about the founding of the state of Israel, which was poorly received.
