This is a story of a theatre and a story of the country. And it is also a love story of a singer and a theatre director - both prisoners of Kolyma camps. The name of Leonid Varpakhovsky is now remembered only by theatre-goers of old generations. After 17 years of serving art in places of imprisonment on frozen ground his director's biography in theatres of Tbilisi, Kiev and Moscow was magnificent but short. Today his artistic experiments are being brought to life on stages of Montreal and Magadan by Anna Varpakhovskaya - his daughter and follower. This film was shot in Kolyma and Canada and is devoted to the theatre.
