Aux assises de Bastia
A trial of tragic, grandiose magnitude: in September 2006, Patrick Sartori is tried for a murder in Calvi, Corsica. Already sentenced to a prison term of 20 years for the murder of a jeweler in 1977, the accused is intelligent, disquieting and ambiguous. In 2000, he spent a year in a monastery. He is accused of beating to death Adam Mazari and throwing his body in the bush. The victim was the father of a child, described by relatives as gentle and peaceful, but he was also headstrong and had a police record for drug dealing. Between the two men, Giselle, a woman who loved both and unwittingly found herself the center of the affair. Sartori claims he killed Mazari to save Gisèle because Mazari beat and raped her. Where is the truth? The Assize Court in Bastia allowed the trial to be filmed in its entirety. Due to the force of the main characters, a Greek tragedy is played out in front of the camera.
