Stessa Luna
The Mediterranean, between Sicily, Tunisia, Italy and Provence. A portrait of four members of a Sicilian family at a crucial moment in history when each must leave his or her life, land and kin. 1898: Giuseppa must leave her homeland for Tunisia. 1915: Luca, her 18-year-old son, must leave Africa and his fiancée to go fight in Europe when Italy goes to war with Austria. 1944: Francesco, Luca’s son, joins the Free French Forces when the Allies land in Naples. 1957: Francesca, Francesco’s daughter, celebrates Tunisian independence with the Arabs, an event that will take her to France, were she will feel unwanted. Through this family saga, emigration is seen as an act of strength and courage, and defeat is turned into a step forward, and values passed on by each migrant to his descendant are values of life.
