Quand la vigne dort recounts the struggle lead by the wine growers from the Gard (in France's countryside), in order to save their environment and profession facing the issues raised by the globalisation's emergence. On the dawn of winter 2005 and for the second year in a row, French winemakers from the Gard region see their barrels still full, unable to sell their production. Caught in an unsustainable economic situation, exasperated by the lack of results from their local trade unions, tired to hear nothing but promises from their elected regional representatives, the winemakers have nothing to lose. It’s in that state of desperation that they decide to start an ultimate political and media battle in order to be heard nationwide...
