Putain d'usine
The Grand Paroisse fertilizer plant in the suburbs of Rouen belongs to AZF, the chemical arm of Total. It is the same kind of plant that exploded in Toulouse in 2001. Jean-Pierre, Alain, René, Bibi, Gérard work here, some for the past 30 years. They are all waiting for a downsizing plan that will allow them to leave ahead of time. Through testimonies of their daily life at the plant and outside it, they come to ponder the purpose of productivism and consumerism. So they bring up the contradictions that also inform their lives, those unvoiced comments on a society in which each citizen feels as much victim as involuntary accomplice. The world of the factory thus comes to symbolize man's contemporary condition. A metaphor for the modern world.
