The entire world knows the famous photo of the Soviet soldier planting the flag on top of the Reichstag. Printed in millions of copies, reproduced in all the encyclopedias, it is today an emblem of World War II, almost always reproduced without the name of the photographer.
His name is Evgueni Khaldei.
But his work is not limited to the war. His archives, now accessible, contain thousands of unpublished photos. This film is a personal commentary on the episodes, both known and unknown, about the life of a country with its moments of heroism and those that are less heroic.
