Prie Dieu pour ne pas être riche parmi les pauvres
What is it like to be a rich merchant in Chad, one of the world’s poorest countries? This film provides an answer with the portraits of men and women who have grown rich and work in Chad, France and the Arab Emirates. If their common religion, Islam, doesn’t forbid them from being rich, it enjoins them to share their goods with the poor and disabled. But they are overwhelmed by the extent of the poverty reigning in their country. They also talk of their disappointment in being excluded from the 2003 petroleum project and have harsh words for the World Bank, whose policies for fighting poverty strike them as being inefficient.
