Pietro Paolo Floriani
In November 2005 Floriani Family received a group of letters from the Convent Pio Istituto Misericordioso di S. Chiara, informing the family that the Convent was about to be closed, therefore they decided to give back to the Compagnoni Floriani Archive the letters exchanged in the middle of 1600 between Pietro Paolo Floriani (1585-1638) and his daughter Camilla, who entered in the Convent very young. These letters explain the historical situation of that period, leading Floriani to work as an important military engineer who projected, in 1635, Malta’s walls. By comparing letters, interviews and documents, we can retrace Pietro Paolo Floriani’s life, examining its main known aspects.
