Paysans sans terre
In Brazil, peasants occupy vast arable lands neglected by their owners. It is a country with the second most unequal land distribution in the world: 1% of population owns nearly half the land, while five million families have nothing. In the face of this absurd situation, the peasants of the Landless Workers’ Movement have been occupying and working these fields. Despite repression, they are demanding that the government expropriate this uncultivated land. Sometimes, after several years of waiting, they manage to obtain the property. But then they must organize its collective cultivation. Thanks to their actions, courage and resolutely modern democratic vision, the landless peasants are bringing progress to all Brazilian society.
