Ouédraogo, légendes et traditions du Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso is known for its film festival, its art and craft fair and its sculptures, much admired by Picasso, Braque and Derain. But little is known about its history and age-old traditions concerning horses. "Ouédraogo" means stallion, an historic stallion, a symbol in Burkina. The Burkinese's sacred bond with the horse dates back to the rock paintings of the Sahel and the mythical horsewoman, Princess Yennenga, mother of Ouédraogo. African horseback riding, training and knowledge have developed a philosophy of life centered on the horse. Even today, you can't be a customary chief without a horse and no major ceremony can take place without the presence of Ouédraogo. The film showcases the historic and cultural richness of Burkina Faso: a different look at Africa.
