Operation Sphinx

On July 7th, 1981, on a late afternoon, a squadron of F-16 fighter jets takes off from its base somewhere in Israel's Negev desert. Ninety minutes later and one thousand kilometres away, the nearly-operational Iraqi nuclear reactor in Osirak is destroyed. In 1972, with their nuclear program up and running, the Iraqi government signs a secret agreement with the French and Italian governments for the supply of parts and materials required for the construction of two experimental reactors. In Israel, concerns are growing in the military and intelligence communities, because of its sheer size, Israel will be unable to contain a nuclear attack. Such an attack will mean one thing: the destruction of the Jewish state. This film shows the extent to which dedicated Mossad agents went, to safeguard Israel's national security.
