Oliver Stone, Hollywoods Lieblings-Rebell
Oliver Stone didn't wait five years to deal with the traumas of 9/11. He had to start earlier in order for the release of World Trade Center to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the attacks. So controversy was inevitable: Isn't it a bit too soon? Was Stone the right director for the job? Stephan Lamby followed the shooting of this contentious film. His documentary, shot in New York, Los Angeles and Cannes, is a day-by-day account but most of all a portrait of the director and his turbulent career. It is interlaced with interviews with critics, producers and actors (Charlie Sheen, Angelina Jolie, Willem Dafoe, Val Kimer) who speak openly about working with Stone.
