Nicht Alle Waren MörderNot All Were Murderers
Berlin, 1943. After the murder of her husband in a concentration camp, Anna, a young Jewish woman, ends up alone with her son Michael in a city ravaged by the Nazis. When their apartment is ransacked, they just manage to escape with their lives. Thanks to the aid of their friend, Lona, they travel under assumed identities and find refuge at the home of a Russian pianist who takes pity on them. This is the beginning of a terrible two-year odyssey throughout the region. Thanks to the hospitality of some Germans who risk their lives to help, Anna and Michael manage to survive. Wearing the uniform of the Hitler Youth, the child befriends a young boy, Rolf, whose father, Mr. Redlich, a transport engineer, suffers terrible guilt feelings since taking part in the death machine that murdered millions of Jews.
