Neg'lévè, une expression du mois de maiNegroes Stand Up: a May Expression
May is an emotionally charged month for persons overseas: the abolition of slavery is celebrated on May 22 in Martinique, and May 27 in Guadeloupe. In continental France, May is also a month of demands: Labor Day, the commemorations of May 22 and 27, as well as May 10, recognizing the slave trade and slavery as "a crime against humanity". The film examines the importance of this month and shares the emotions of these people overseas, descendants of slave labor and the slave trade brought from Africa.
