Naplofilm - 12 voltam '56 banDiary Film - I Was 12 in '56
On October 23, 1956, one Budapest boy decides he’ll write a diary about the revolution. He’s close to the action, hears the fighting in his street and shootings day after day. Meanwhile the boy’s collecting physical mementos in a box marked "Revolution". He listens to the radio and questions neighbours. He takes great long walks with his friend Jancsi, planning them ahead on paper. Everything gets noted down. Meanwhile he lives the life of a Budapest kid. His head and his diary hold a mixture of Budapest childhood and the history in action around him. He knows the famous radio speeches inside out and he makes drawings of bombarded houses. This film presents his diary using animation and documentary techniques, to give a still more faithful account of the special atmosphere found in the original written by the boy.
