Menuhin in Hollywood
Summer 1947. Producer Paul Gordon meets Yehudi Menuhin at a dinner. The famous violinist tells him of the concerts he's giving in capitals around the world. The producer has an idea: to make a concert film that could be shown in the most remote localities. At first reluctant, Menuhin finally agrees to the idea. In December 1947 the shooting of Magic Concert begins. Reviewing the history of the first full-length classical music concert film ever made, Günter Atteln also provides a portrait of Menuhin: this unusual young man was one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century and never stopped working for peace.
