In Nouakchott, Malouma the singer is a star who is respected not only for her talent, but also for her political engagement. Although her family members are traditional story tellers, she transgresses tradition by treating subjects that are taboo in Mauritania.
This free approach brought censorship for many years forcing her to export her music onto the world stage. Between concerts (Musiques métisses in Angouleme, a tour in Mauritania, the New Morning) she invites us to share the roots of her art.
