Leslie Caron remains one of the great figures of American musical comedy, who co-starred with Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire in such masterpieces as An American in Paris and Daddy Long Legs. She is one of the few French actors to have made it in Hollywood, along with Maurice Chevalier – with whom she appeared in Vincente Minnelli's Gigi. Her British career, though less well-known, includes such memorable films as Bryan Forbes's The L-Shaped Room(1962).
