Le Cavalier du Golestan
In Iran, no one bets money, except at the races. The Teheran race is a major popular gathering. People come here to bet but also to win their honor: in Iran, breaking in a horse is a symbol of freedom. Abduljabar, a Turkmen, lives on the plains of Golestan. He represents his clan, the Turkmens, a minority with a legendary past, and is preparing to compete with participants from all over the country. He joins the other racers; the hooves pound the arid earth and dust covers the track. Abduljabar embodies the hopes of his clan: in this race, an age-old battle is played out, a battle for the right to exist.
