Shot in Germany and France and drawing on archive footage and first-hand accounts, this documentary deals with the German members of the French underground and provides a new perspective on the history of resistance to the Nazis. Survivors of a war against their own camp, these men and women put more stock in their idealism than in their sense of obedience and had the courage to fight their own army on foreign territory. They all recall that they were very young, still imbued with the insouciance of youth, toying with death out of idealism and conviction in their fight against horror and ignominy.
