La Belle Porte
La Belle Porte is a typical Northern French expression. It signifies a calamity only just averted and the luck in coming out more or less unscathed. Based on encounters and accounts of nursing personnel and the families of babies, this documentary deals with the major phases of prematurity: its main causes, measures of prevention and detection, the medical coverage and hospital treatment. The film follows the first moments and first weeks in the lives of these babies born too early, and the combat awaiting them and their families if they are to grow up.
