Kosmos - Pervaya Krov'Outer Space - First Blood
On April 24, 1967, on the flight Soyuz-1, Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov dies during his return to Earth. Until the last minute everyone hoped that he would manage to get out of the burning spacecraft. But the miracle did not happen. The rescue team found the body buried under the wrecked spacecraft. This was the first time a cosmonaut died in a flight. The authorities would hold back the information on his death which bore lots of myths, rumours and legends. They said Komarov was disfigured but still alive; that he was sent to an asylum; that parts of his body were spread in the steppe so that it was impossible to gather them and an empty burial urn was immured in the Kremlin wall. The authors of the film conducted their own investigation.
