In MeiIn May
The battle for the Netherland was fought out in Rotterdam in May, 1940. The attack on Western Europe by Nazi Germany ran into its first obstacle here. In this film eleven eyewitnesses tell about their personal experiences at that time. Many of them were still children then, or young men in the army, but nobody was prepared for a war. The neutrality of the Netherlands seemed sacrosanct. But war came and in just a few days the peaceful lives of Rotterdammers were suddenly completely shattered. In May is a film in which personal experience is first and foremost and in this way does justice to an often forgotten chapter from the beginning of the Second World War.
