I Figli strappatiThorn Children
Fey Von Hassel, daughter of the German ambassador to Rome, is married to Detalmo Pirzio Biroli. Before the Second World War, this family of diplomats seemed fated to live in a world of privilege, among embassy balls, high society events and vacations. But suddenly, the family serenity is destroyed: her father, accused of being behind the plot to kill Hitler, is executed. Fey and her children, aged three and one, are arrested by the SS and imprisoned at Innsbruck. Separated from them, she can only think of finding them. Despite her dramatic plight, Fey finds comfort and support among her prison companions, all members of plotters' families, and especially Alex Von Stauffenberg, who understands her predicament and does his utmost to help her. The way of the cross leads through several concentration camps. Fey almost succumbs to the cold, hunger and illness, but she manages to survive. When the war ends, she sets out to find her children in war-ravaged Europe.
