Histoire d'îles, histoire d'hommes
On December 26, 2004, the tsunami carried off Sepala, a Sri Lankan fisherman, who owed his survival to his sea experience. But he lost his house, his children and his work tool. When you’re 58 in Sri Lanka, where can you find the money and courage to rebuild a lifetime’s work? On another island, some 6,000 miles away, a Corsican fisherman, Jean-Dominique, sets out to perform a rescue operation. A tale of solidarity between people of the sea against a backdrop of considerations on humanitarian aid and the sponsors who profit from it to apply measures of structural adjustment in order to privatize the public services in Sri Lanka and ensure that the debt is reimbursed.
