Ham, un chimpanzé dans l'espaceAstrochimp n° 65
31 January 1961. A Mercury rocket takes off from Cape Canaveral. In the capsule is a three-year-old chimpanzee named Ham. The young ape is being sent on a suborbital flight. He resists the pressure and high temperatures before falling back into the Atlantic. He is the first “earthling” to come back alive from a journey into space. This film relates the incredible itinerary of this chimp who was born in the African jungle, and Jeff, the man who, during the two years of training and preparation, gave him the support that would allow him to survive. Their exploit opened the way to the stars and the astronauts of the NASA.
