Gde cveta limun zutWhere the Yellow Lemon Blooms
At the end of 1916, armies of Austro-Hungarian Empire, Germany and Bulgaria attacked Serbia. Defending each road, each hill, Serbia, expecting the help of allies, found itself with the whole army, institutions and refugees in Kosovo, the only remaining free part of its territory. In Kosovo, further fight became impossible so the Serbian Government, avoiding capitulation, chose fateful but at the same time honourable act: Serbian army, government and people left the country and withdrew over impassable Albanian gorges, heading towards the allies. The whole country became emigration: it was unprecedented protecting of the national honour.
