Franz + Polina
1943. In Byelorussia, hundreds of villages are burned to the ground with their inhabitants in reprisal against the partisans and as part of the "plan to liquidate the Slav nations." An SS detachment, sent to carry out this mission in one village, receives last minute instructions to suspend the operation. Instead of exterminating the locals, the SS become their pleasant, obliging guests. Will Franz, a young German soldier, have the chance to declare his feelings to pretty young Polina before a new order is received? How much time does he have left? Franz is naïve about love and death. The film's style resides in the gradual movement from realism to romanticism. The main characters undergo several mystical transformations. They must cope with situations that force them to choose between their mutual attraction and the desire to survive from day to day.
