François de Roubaix, l'aventurier
François de Roubaix, who died at age 36, is a unique figure in the history of music and film. He left behind him more than 40 motion picture and television scores. He was only 20 when he wrote his first soundtrack for Robert Enrico's first film, L'or de la Durance. His precocious genius went on to enhance films by many of the major French directors of the 60s and 70s (Melville, Giovanni, Boisset, Mocky, Duvivier). His youthfulness, laid-back hippy manner and undeniable talent made him an indispensable collaborator. With his sudden death by drowning during a diving expedition in 1975, he became a legend. Drawing on many rare documents and exclusive interviews, this film is a portrait of the man and artist.
