Tim, a TV producer, and Peter, a lawyer, met eight years ago. They quickly began to live together and wanted very much to have a child. For months, they couldn’t decide between adoption and in vitro fertilization with a carrier mother. They opted for the second. Four years of fierce determination and several thousands dollars later, Lillian and Beatrice, false twins, were born at San Diego Hospital.
