Colonia Dignidad
Barbed wire, watchtowers, signs in gothic letters. We are in the middle of the Chilean countryside on a domain that resembles a concentration camp. Its name – through an irony that recalls the sign at the gates of Auschwitz – is “Dignity Colony.” Its résumé chills the blood: a brothel for pedophiles; a sect recognized as one of the most dangerous in the world; a multinational whose turnover today amounts to $100 million; a last Nazi bastion and detention and torture center. Since 1960, when it was created, the colony has survived and adapted to all the political upheavals in Chile and abroad: it has constantly cast its shadow on all the disturbing events on the Latin American continent. A investigative documentary on its political and financial rings, both national and international, on the crimes it committed and those it may be preparing, Colonia Dignidad denounces this tentacular criminal organization, which no one dares condemn. For the first time, a film provides all the evidence necessary to expose the colony’s secret and penetrate the mystery that still surrounds and protects it.
