20 years after the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, many have already forgotten this tragic incident. However, one photographer and Fukuoka resident, Mr. Teshima Masahiro, has visited Chernobyl five times to make a record of “the aftermath of the Chernobyl accident.” His collection of photographs exceeds 5,300, portions of which are used in “No More Chernobyl” an exhibit held in Nagasaki commemorating the 60th anniversary of the tragic A-bombs. We interview people in Mr. Teshima’s photographs to learn about their lives since the accident. Their accounts are interrelated with those of Nagasaki A-bomb survivors to highlight the tragic aspects of nuclear power and nuclear weapons.
