The film reviews the story of the Portuguese pop group Heróis do Mar, to analyse the clash between the image of old Portugal and the image of modern day Portugal. It examines the ideas, the ideals, and the dynamics at play in Portuguese popular music in the 80s and its place in Europe, through the voice of the musicians and non-musicians who were involved in bringing about the conceptual construct of that time. It is a documentary which establishes links in the relationships between popular music, politics and Portuguese society and the image the country had – and has – of itself.
