This film is the first part of the series, Legato - The World of Piano, in which the stars of today's piano renaissance are being introduced and dealt with in depth. Portrait of the Russian pianist Boris Berezovsky, it tells the story of how a musical interpretation is being created. For the first time Boris Berezovsky encounters Welsh composer Dafydd Llywelyn of the score Change of Plans, written especially for him. They discuss and rehearse the piece in Munich and Brussels. Boris explains his ways of practicing, his technique and repertoire. Besides the Llywelyn piece he works on compositions by Beethoven, Medtner and Godowsky. The film culminates in the first performance of Change of Plans. Taking this title literally, Boris doesn't play the piece but improvises on Dafydd's chords.
