Asamando
The King of Kenyasi, Nana Kwaku Acheampong, is no more. Surrounded by his family, Nana Kwaku Acheampong will undertake his last trip which must enable him to join: Asamando, the kingdom of the ancestors.
Through the funeral of the dead sovereign, the film makes us discover the strange and fascinating universe of Akan ritual funerary of Ghana. Women and men in a festive and coloured environment, dance to the rythm of the drums. The tumult of the orchestras mixes with the cries and lamentations. The scenes of jubilations and meditation recall that life and death are here, closely dependent. While following the main characters of the ceremony lasting several days, the film restores all the dramaturgy of this extraordinary theatre of death.
