Afrique, les métiers de la rue
They are car washers, fruit peddlers, sand merchants, drug-recyclers, stone breakers, snake hunters, etc. These are street trades. On the African continent, the informal economy has come to be the main source of income for its inhabitants. Today, two out of three city dwellers live off their wits. It's the only way to survive in a society in full economic development and buffeted by inequalities. In Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, we follow the daily lives of 10 such street workers.
