Afghanistan mon amour
Mathieu Beley, a young man of 30 from the Lorraine, moved to Afghanistan, where he started a business: Gulestan, or “rose garden” in Persian. His idea was to extract essential oils from wild Afghan flowers and plants for the international perfume industry. A good way to do business and at the same time contribute to the development of a country scarred by 30 years of war and a critical dependence on opium production. Following Gulestan’s first year and Mathieu’s life between France and Afghanistan, we discover another face of Afghanistan: a land of unsuspected riches, which provides hope for a better future.
