Yemen, heir of the legendary kingdom of Saba, which lived under the domination of the imams until the middle of the 2Oth century is today in full transformation. Reunited in 1990 after years of a bloody civil war, endowed with a modern constitution, with a parliament, and with a regime with democratic aspirations, it remains largely dominated by its tribes, the social backbone of the country. Hostile since a long time to all foreign intrusion, the tribes jealously preserve their traditions in the face of a growing westernization on the rest of the peninsula. This film offers us the keys to understanding Yemenite society, by introducing us to the myths of yesterday and the realities of today.
