Waiting...
This is a story of missing people, men and boys who were picked up by security forces and then simply disappeared. The place is Kashmir. Sandwiched between India and Pakistan, Kashmir is a battleground for both nations. Since the men are missing, thus not legally declared dead, their wives are not widows but “half widows". The women and children tell their own stories — describe their dreams, fears, aspirations and hardships. Their faces reflect the tension of their dilemma. With the passing years, many have learned to live with their hopes and aspirations. Others are still in conflict with their in-laws, the state, religion and their daily livelihood. Their psychiatric problems contribute to the statistics about Kashmir having the highest number of psychotic patients in the world.
