Vaserman - Ish Hageshem
73-year-old Abraham Wasserman has to decide whether to let go of the hatred that has given him the strength to go on living, or risk losing everything he loves all over again -his land and his family. When a devastating drought plagues the land, even the most hardened atheist can't help but raise his eyes to the heavens in prayer. But not Abraham Wasserman. He swore long ago that he would never pray again. He will not turn to God, because he blames him and all his messengers for his family's perishing in the Holocaust. He is unwilling to forgive. Wasserman's conflict deepens as the drought persists and the creditors come knocking on his door. His religious neighbours, from whom he has always distanced himself, agree to help him, on one condition. They want him to participate in a special prayer for rain in the local synagogue. Abraham, who has eradicated all remnants of his Jewish identity from his life, and from the lives of his two daughters, is forced to confront his daughters, his grandson and his maker in a final desperate attempt to hold on to his family and his land.
