Both the district court and the court of criminal appeals had found Bo Larsson guilty of the very serious offences his own daughter had accused him of: drugging her, raping her and selling her to other men. He ended up serving three years and two months of the eight-year prison sentence the court originally gave him. Finally, however, he was exonerated in December 2004, when Sweden’s Supreme Court accepted his third appeal for judicial review— a decision that could have come far sooner if the authorities had not repeatedly concealed evidence through their misuse of the “Secret” stamp.
