Une étoile en plein jour
June 1914. As usual, Mademoiselle Esbé (Sarah Bernhardt) leaves Paris to holiday on her island in Brittany. She is accompanied by several “elegants” which she nicknames her “smala”. She plans on using the time to rehearse her next role, Phedra. Upon her arrival, which is always an event for the locals, Mademoiselle has only one desire: to see her beloved horse, Hippolyte. But this time, something has changed: after the warm reunion with her mount, Mademoiselle realizes that Eugène, her faithful coachman, hasn’t come to meet her. Eugene is ill so his teenage son Jean-René is standing in for him. Mademoiselle doesn’t seem bothered by the relief, on the contrary...
