Kersten Kischnick, a German woman vacationing in Miami, was found dead in October 1987. Her companion, Dieter Riechman, was arrested. He asserted his innocence. Though there was no apparent motive and the gun was never found, he was sentenced to death in 1988. Since 1997, journalist and documentary filmmakers Peter F. Müller has been carrying out research on the case, in particular verifying the reports of independent experts. He is convinced that Riechmann is innocent and that certain witnesses at the trial had been bribed.
