Thaïlande : femmes du monde
According to the stereotype, the women of Thailand are naive and devoted: at best submissive to a tyrannical and misogynistic husband and at worst doomed to touristic prostitution from a very young age. But the majority of women from Thailand do not in fact correspond to such clichés. Prem, for instance, is an English teacher who is very independent, and her lifestyle choices resemble those of Western counterparts. Kasamalia, a divorcée, is the headmistress of a school. Teo has chosen to earn a living by selling her homemade sausages, so that her daughter can go to school. Via the portraits of these courageous and determined women, a very different image of Thai women begins to take emerge.
